Counselling for you

A warm personal counselling service....As an experienced counsellor, I offer professional counselling, which is confidential, safe, within a BACP accredited counselling service. My rooms are in St George, Bristol. I invite you to have a look at the information on this website and decide whether you would like to call me and talk about what is worrying you.

It may not take long to resolve, but the essence of my practice is to deal with what you bring in a safe and supportive way, using the various skills and media resources that suit you.

However, I work regularly:
  • in relationship counselling
  • as an anxiety counsellor
  • with couples work
  • with people who use anger to solve their problems
  • as a depression counsellor
  • as a bereavement counsellor
  • in work place issues
  • to coach people for success in business.

Anxiety counselling is important to me, because I know it makes life difficult in so many areas and it is so often hidden. I have worked successfully with clients with OCD, fears of social situations, anxiety within relationships, difficulties in the work place. Some people feel their lives are outside of their control. I know how hard people have struggled with their pain before they decide to come for counselling.

Relationship counselling can make a huge difference to the way a person feels about themselves and how they are able to interact with others to achieve what they want in life. Understanding and working with issues of relationship, is a good way to regain confidence and self esteem, reduce anxiety and depression. Relationship counselling extends into couples work, but fundamentally enables us to establish a good relationship with ourselves.

It is worth it! One of my clients wrote: "Knowing I had a safe place to go where I could be, and connect with my true self was invaluable. I feel that this year is ending on a much better note than it began. The time and effort was so worthwhile." Whatever the reason for your distress, See what we can do together: phone or text on 07948354827 e-mailing on mrsjilledwards@gmail.com.

We can work within any of the following specialist approaches, or we can focus on your situation using all of the tools available to us.

  • Person Centred Therapy: Letting you have the chance to reflect on your experiences of life. There may be bereavement and losses, joys and successes. We can work together to make sense and find a new direction.

  • Narrative Therapy: Listening to the story you tell yourself about your life and how it affects your anxiety, relationships, depression and work-life.

  • CBT: Within a supportive relationship, changing thought patterns, supporting changing the you we feel about anxiety and depression

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, third wave CBT: Viewing the values you hold, the relationships you have, mindfulness skills, the actions you can take, how to get acceptance of difficult times, like bereavement, losses and the inevitable changes that come.

Introductory meeting: So that you feel re-assured that you can get on with the person you contact for counselling, I am happy to hear from you by e-mail and I will meet briefly with you for an introductory chat or have a conversation on the phone in which you can let me know what it is that you are looking for. You may also have a look at the link: "Who I am really".

Fees: The overall costs are a consideration for many, and this sometimes means people like to have a time limited set of sessions, say 6 sessions and a very focused approach to achieving their goals. On the other hand some people like to feel they can take their time to make fundamental progress and have say once a month or fortnightly sessions for continued support. My fees reflect your financial position and the arrangements you make with me and range between £25 and £40 per session for individuals and £60 for couples.

Media: In this media age, many people use internet, text, e-mail and phone as the media for their therapy and I am pleased to arrange a package of contact, e-mail support and phone calls which I have found to be very focused and effective.

Contact me, so we can find a way forward for you.
